American English has become the de facto lingua franca of international business and contractual agreements. The rich technical vocabulary of American English behooves this situation, as does the general acceptance of the language's preeminence in international business by most multi-national corporations. The conditions of the global economy and the predispositions of the business community make it likely that American English will maintain its preeminent position.
