The Fulbright Program for international education exchange was established following the end of the Second World War as a result of Senator Fulbright's avoid destruction on an equal or greater scale. The program was designed on the premise that if future potential leaders of different countries could be sent to live in another culture to interact with its people, they might be more inclined as adults engage in the exchange ideas rather than in warfare. The author, the late Senator's wife, argues that the physical exchange of people that the Fulbright program promotes is still valuable and necessary even, and especially, in the current age of instant mass communication.
