There is a pressing need for Western non-Muslims engaged in development projects in the Muslim world or with management responsibilities in offices with both Muslim and non-Muslim staff to understand the common civilizational values between these two cultures. A proper understanding of these commonalities can facilitate cross-cultural communication in developmental, educational, business, and organizational settings. The author, an American Muslim, provides an in-depth discussion of these commonalities and gives the reader a unique perspective on both Muslim and American values.
