Written communication is key component of any field. However, writing for an international audience requires the writer to be culturally aware in order to develop an effective message. The audience culture should be analyzed on three different levels: apparent cultural differences (language, technical capability), unspoken cultural differences (business protocol, symbols), and unconscious cultural differences (nonverbal communication, sense of time). An analysis and understanding of these factors can help the writer to fashion culturally sensitive documents which can build bridges and strengthen relationships.
