The development of global leadership is a key focus of most multinationals in Europe, the US, and Asia. Succession management and leadership development experts are eager to find better ways to select and develop global leaders as business performance will depend on the international literacy of top management. Many failures of international mergers and international teams can be assigned to the exposure of executives to culture shock. The author's Culture Shock Triangle, incorporates and describes the emotional, thinking, and social skills and identity aspects of culture shock for international business leaders, and offers the potential for breaking through culture shock.
