The author explains that most management principles are not validated across cultures. Effective managers need to be able to communicate with people from different cultures, not just with those who belong to the same culture. The author argues that the goal of intercultural management is not to eliminate differences but to use those differences to enhance creativity within an organization. It is important that managers understand the dynamics of cross-cultural adaptation, and understanding our own culture is the first step in getting to know the culture of others. It is only through experience complemented with intercultural management principles that we can learn how to enhance intercultural communication and management to become more effective in our personal and professional interactions. |
