Dorothy Blake-Fardan

Dr. Fardan has taught in colleges and universities for the past 37 years, except for a brief departure from academia in 1969, spent in search of a more activist life. At this time she met her husband, Donald Elijah Fardan, a person of African slave descent and a member of the Nation of Islam since 1959. She began serious study of Islam as taught by the Hon. Elijah Muhammad. When the doors of the Nation were opened in 1975 for a time, she joined and was indentified by media as the first Caucasian to join the NOI. She taught at Clara Muhammad School in Chicago for 2 years, and her fist book, Understanding Self and Society: An Islamic Perspective , was sponsored by Imam Warith Deen Muhammad. She also wrote articles for the Muslim paper, then known as Bilalian News and Islamic Journal. Today she supports the Nation under the direction of Min. Louis Farrakhan, and embraces a universal vision of one Nation of Islam.

Dr. Fardan is the foinder of the Sojourner Truth Farm School and Center for Human Growth, a non-profit organization which aims to ground youth in the natural order and accurate (not white supremacist) history. She also directs the organization's Prison Ministry and publishes its newsletter Earthways. She is a founding member of CURE and co-authored their first book, Reparations: The CURE For America 's Race Problem. She is the author of Message to the White Man and Woman in America: Yakub and the Origin of White Supremacy and numerous articles. She has lectured on college/university campuses and appeared on radio talk shows concerning race relations, white supremacy, Islam and related topics. Two new books are anticipated for publication in the near future: The Last Exodus: The End of White Supremacy and the Return of the Original and Lonesome Road : My Journey to Islam. She currently teaches at Bowie State University and resides in Maryland with her husband.
