Mohamed Baba, 34, co-founded MEX-IT Intercultural Management, a consultancy that works to overcome cultural barriers and promote successful integration of immigrant communities in Europe. His initiative to promote dialogue between Muslims and non-Muslims was recognized for contributing to the prevention of violent ethnic escalations in Amsterdam after the murder of film director Theo van Gogh. In 2005, MEX-IT organized a Ramadan Festival, the first of its kind in The Netherlands, designed to make the daily experiences of Dutch Muslims more accessible to non-Muslims. Recognized as a key intermediary between the diverse ethnic communities in the Netherlands, Baba’s work appreciably contributes to the social cohesion of the country. He is now expanding his focus to include other countries in Europe.
