Espinosa's research centers on understanding how geographic barriers, namely spatial and temporal boundaries, can be most effectively bridged through communication, coordination mechanisms, and information technologies. His work has been published or is forthcoming in leading academic journals like the Journal of Management Information Systems, Communications of the ACM, Organization Science and Management Science. He is also a frequent presenter at leading academic conferences in information systems and management. He is an Assistant Professor and UPS Scholar at the Information Technology department, Kogod School of Business at American University.
