Health care is getting increasingly complex and competitive and health care providers are challenged to keep client satisfaction high. Despite the growing diversity among provider populations and patient populations in the United States, the effects on care giving have only been partially explored. How can we interculturalists help care givers to achieve their goals in a culturally competent manner? In this interactive session, the need for cultural competence in health care and how cultural interventions can be helpful will be discussed. Culturally diverse concepts of health and illness will be discussed and applied in interactive group exercises. |
